For the life of the practice we have looked after accounting, tax and the financial decisions of South African businesses: new ventures, companies that are trading well, and owners who have been at it for decades and want to scale back without losing the file.
We are a small business too. We fight the same fights. A generation of owners is leaving older methods without a mentor waiting on the other side, and we would rather bring a useful tool than a slogan. Global trends get translated into something a local operator can run. Software is adopted when it serves the client’s terms, not the other way around.
We look at the whole picture: the personality of the owner and the mechanics of the business, because both move the result. We do not try to repair the future by scheming our way back into last year. The past is for learning. Today is for building. When it comes to tax, we do not let the tail wag the dog.
The pressure at the door is not, in our experience, the Receiver of Revenue. It is a business that is personal, and a set of neglected jobs (the reconciliations, the policies, the people) that quietly decide whether the good years stay good.
